I have worked on drilling rigs for the past 19 years. I began my career as a roughneck for Precision Drilling in 1993 and quickly worked my way up through the ranks to Driller. I drilled throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia on a variety of different types of rigs - from conventional triples and A/C triples to coil tubing to telescopic and Jackknife doubles.
I accepted a position with Drillers Technologie de Mexico/Saxon Energy Services as a driller in 2003, where I aided in the building of two telescopic double rigs. Once in Mexico, I was quickly set up as rig manager/relief field superintendant. We drilled in the Burgos Basin and Chicontepec Field with many unusual well control situations. Challenges such as high temperature, high pressure gas wells with oil base mud; snubbing operations; blow outs; fires and cultural differences all aided in my professional growth. I was also included in the construction and deployment of four rack and pinion automated drilling rigs to the Chicontepec Field for a "Factory Drilling" project.
In the beginning of 2009 I took a position with Xtreme Coil Drilling in Mexico as a field superintendent. I thoroughly enjoyed the management aspects of the business - and excelled at creating a positive, safe and productive environment for all my team members. Unfortunately, operations in Mexico were suspended - and I assisted in modifying and deploying the rigs to the United States.
I am currently supervising drilling SAGD wells in the oil sands. I also have experience with drilling and abandoning core holes in Northern Alberta.
